A summary of Magical Mischief Month

4th April 2019

The month leading up to April Fool’s Day has been inaugurated as ‘Magical Mischief’ for the first time ever. Here’s some of the fun that went on with our partners.

Magical Mischief is a new moment for the Wizarding World celebrating the fun, humour and lightness of the Harry Potter stories.

‘I suppose she thinks you don’t forget your name. But we’re not stupid – we know we’re called Gred and Forge.’ George Weasley – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Troublemakers-in-Chief, Fred and George Weasley, are always wreaking havoc. Magical Mischief is about the playful misbehaviour (and potentially mishaps) of deploying magic when your skills as a wizard-in training aren’t quite polished enough or when you’re up to no good.

‘Saint-like,’ repeated George, opening his eyes and looking up at his brother. ‘You see … I’m holy. Holey, Fred, geddit?’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Pottermore Publishing created a series of digital banners to help support the most mischievous time of the year. Library partner Bolinda joined in the celebrations by posting Weasley Twin-themed social squares across their BorrowBox social channels. Audible Canada also showed they were game with support across their digital channels, inviting fans to discover the magic and mischief by listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks.

Magical Mischief peaked on 1st April, which is the Weasley twins’ birthday and, of course, April Fool’s Day.
