Spotlight On: Germany, France, Belgium and The Netherlands

11th January 2023

The first in a new series sharing a round-up of some of the incredible marketing we’ve seen from our retailers.

Across Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, the story of The Boy Who Lived continues to enchant readers and listeners of all ages. Throughout 2022, fans could spot their favourite titles from the Wizarding WorldTM wherever they were, from TV screens to in-flight with Air France.

Pottermore Publishing made the first two books in the Harry Potter series available as part of Audible’s unlimited listening catalogue in Germany and France in 2022, which is free to all Audible members. Fans in these countries can now hear HP1 and HP2 again and again and again … through their ‘all you can listen’ subscription.

To celebrate the moment, we teamed up with Audible Germany to give five influencers the chance to demonstrate their love for the Harry Potter series at the ‘Magical Escape’ event in September. This was hosted in the spectacular Wernigerode Castle and culminated in a surprise guest appearance by fan – favourite narrator, Rufus Beck.

In France, we worked with Nextory as they delivered an out of home campaign across Paris that showcased our French eBooks. From 27th July to 15th August 2022, the campaign could be spotted at the Gare De Lyon train station showcasing the fantastic new artwork. The campaign was also displayed in online channels and broadcasted through various radio stations. Then, in December Audible worked with Air France to bring Les Contes de Beedle le Bard (The Tales of Beedle the Bard) to passengers, to keep them company on their journeys.

Last month, we collaborated closely with Storytel on the development of an enchanting television campaign which premiered in both the Netherlands and Belgium. Incorporating elements from Pottermore’s refreshed covers, the advertisement includes an excerpt from the Dutch version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone narrated by the brilliant Jouman Fatal.

Working with incredible retailers such as Audible, Storytel and Nextory we hope to continue to find new and exciting ways to share the Wizarding WorldTM stories with even more fans across these territories in 2023 and beyond!
