Record-breaking Back to Hogwarts celebration by Carlsen Verlag and Warner. Bros Discovery in Hamburg marks the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen.

On 26th August 2023 Carlsen Verlag, Warner Bros. Discovery, Höverlag, Audible and the theatrical team behind Harry Potter and the Cursed Child staged a Back to Hogwarts-themed event outside Hamburg’s beautiful City Hall (or Rathausmarkt).

Pottermore Publishing worked closely with Audible Germany to celebrate the success of the Harry Potter digital audiobooks at the event, giving eager fans the opportunity to practice their narration skills on the Hogwarts Express scene where the Golden Trio meet for the very first time.

Audible also hosted a themed listening area, where visitors were invited to sample the audiobook and celebrate the moment, while event staff sported T-shirts featuring Pottermore’s illustrations of Harry displaying his Quidditch skills on his trusty Nimbus 2000.

From the attendees helping smash the World Record for the most fans dressed as Harry Potter in one place, to a live reading from German audiobook narrator, Rufus Beck, the day was jam-packed with magical fun for fans to enjoy. It is fantastic to see that, even after twenty-five years, the joy of celebrating the start of a new school year at Hogwarts is still as alive as ever.
