Harry Potter™ audiobooks dominate the New York Times’ Inaugural Children’s Audio Bestseller List

9th April 2026

Both the new full-cast audio editions and the classic single-voice recordings from Jim Dale feature in the top 15.

Launched for the first time this April, the New York Times has introduced a new children’s audio bestseller list that is now live online and will make it’s print debut on 12th April 2026.

We’re delighted to announce that the first five available titles in the full-cast audio editions of Harry Potter occupy positions one through five, with the most recently released Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix taking the top spot. It is closely followed by The Goblet of Fire, The Sorcerer’s Stone, The Prisoner of Azkaban, and The Chamber of Secrets.

Each of these titles have also reached number one on the Associated Press US Audiobooks bestseller list for fiction, earned critical acclaim in The Independent’s Best Audiobooks of 2026, and gone straight to the top of Audible’s bestseller charts across the UK, US, Canada and Australia.

Available exclusively from Audible, the full-cast editions offer a completely immersive listening experience for fans and a new generation of listeners alike. Featuring an original score, performances from more than 200 voice actors, bespoke music and real-world sound capture, these productions bring the stories to life as never heard before.

While the full-cast editions currently hold prime positions across best-seller lists, our beloved, single voice recordings continue to delight listeners with all seven Harry Potter stories, narrated by Jim Dale, also appearing in the top fifteen of the New York Times list too. First released in 1999, these much-loved and iconic recordings have enchanted listeners for decades, and we’re thrilled to see this legacy continue today.

This is a remarkable moment for Pottermore Publishing and a testament to the lasting power of one of the world’s most magical stories.
