The Walking Dead actor has voiced Kennilworthy Whisp’s famous guide to the wizarding sport. And, as you’ll discover from this interview, he had a lot of fun in the process…

Kennilworthy Whisp’s Quidditch Through the Ages , which was written in 2001 by J.K. Rowling to benefit the charity Comic Relief, has always been a fun old read. Filled with anecdotes about the wizarding sport’s rich, complex history, it features writing from all sorts of characters – including a foreword by Albus Dumbledore – as well as chapters on the many bonkers rules of Quidditch and the fascinating history of the broom. (Flying brooms, that is – ordinary brooms are generally quite boring.)

As of today, Quidditch Through the Ages  is now available in a new format: as an audiobook, published by Pottermore Publishing and read by long-time Harry Potter fan Andrew Lincoln. And boy, does he enjoy himself.

Here’s what the actor has to say about his love of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, his favourite characters to voice and which Quidditch team he’d support…

As you can see, Lincoln really knows his stuff. He’s an expert on Quidditch manoeuvres (although in our opinion the Sloth Grip Roll is way too dangerous to even think about performing), really enjoyed bringing grumpy, Quidditch-hating witch Gertie Keddle to life, and was happy to lend his vocals to the project to support Comic Relief and Lumos – the two charities who will benefit from the release of this audiobook.

Alongside Lincoln’s performance as Whisp, the Quidditch Through the Ages  audiobook also features more than an hour and a half of exclusive bonus content that includes ‘The History of the Quidditch World Cup’, written by J.K. Rowling in 2014 for Pottermore.com. You can hear Rita Skeeter (voiced by EastEnders and Doctor Who star Annette Badland) and Ginny Potter (Imogen Church) narrate the World Cup Final from 2014, which is a thrill-a-minute.

If you fancy a listen, you can buy the Quidditch Through the Ages  audiobook from the Pottermore shop.
