Frequently Asked Questions

Please note: the Harry Potter Library Sweepstakes is now closed, and the winners have been selected. For more information visit here.

What is the Harry Potter Library Sweepstakes?

Scholastic, Penguin Random House Audio, and Pottermore Publishing have teamed up to offer a Harry Potter campaign exclusive to US libraries, which celebrates the role of the library as the perfect place to discover the wizarding world. The Sweepstakes will award the Harry Potter series to three lucky libraries in five different formats:

Harry Potter 1-7 physical hardcovers

Harry Potter 1-7 physical CDs

Harry Potter 1-7 digital audiobook licenses

Harry Potter 1-7 eBook licenses

Harry Potter 1-4 illustrated edition hardcovers

How are winners selected?

Libraries and their patrons can enter the sweepstakes on behalf of a US library by sharing what makes that library magic on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtags #MyLibraryIsMagic and #Sweepstakes, and tagging the library they wish to enter.

Winners are then randomly selected from those entries.

Who is allowed to enter?

Any individual posting from a US public library account or any individual who is a legal resident of the United States age 18 or older as of the date of entry may enter on behalf of a US public library.

Do I need to include the T&Cs mini rules in my entry post?

The T&Cs mini rules do not need to be included in the entry posts of libraries or individuals. The mini rules should be included in any communications that promote the sweepstakes or include info about how to enter. The mini rules can be included either as text in the post itself or in the image accompanying the text.

How are winners notified?

Winning entries will be chosen at random on or around March 15, 2020 and the corresponding library will be contacted via their registered social account.

How can I see the names of winning libraries?

To obtain a winner’s list, send a self-addressed stamped envelope after April 1, 2020, and before May 1, 2020 to: Corporate Communications, Scholastic Inc., 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012.

How and when will winning libraries receive the prize?

The winning libraries will receive detailed instructions on how to collect their prize through communication via their registered social media account.
